On the 11th of July Deutscher Online Casinoverband (DOCV) (The German Online Casino Association) made a high-profile announcement about German gambling. It turns out that legal operators still face some problems and it contributes to the growth of the black market, and it is something that needs serious interference.
Due to the fact, that recently Germany has changed its gambling regulations, many online casinos entered the market and now DOCV is unsure about the fairness of this move in relation to regulated organizations.
Recently, several authorities gathered together to discuss a study that was presented by GGL in 2023. It turns out that the initial data that states that the black market’s percentage of the entire gambling market was completely wrong. They believe that it was not only 6% as it was stated in the beginning, but on the contrary, it is way higher.
At the moment we can expect a new updated version of a study, that will evaluate the gambling market in Germany by the year 2026, nevertheless, DOCV believes, that it will take longer, due to the fact, that the results of the previous study were delayed as well. It means, that unfortunately, a black market will still be able to operate without any consequences for quite a long time.
